In 1927, the College of St. Petersburg (then known as St. Petersburg Junior College) and Florida's first private, non-profit school for a period of two years of higher education located in a street in downtown St. Petersburg. Then full accreditation in 1931 and 1948 in the State Planning Commission became the Faculty Assembly.
In June 2001, officially became the College of St. Petersburg where SPJC governor of Florida signed the legislation making the first community college degree in the state of Florida that offer in four years. On December 11, 2001, College received Southern Association of Colleges and Schools accreditation to offer courses leading to bachelor's degree.
In 2002, the St. Petersburg College courses that lead to offer bachelor's degree in nursing, education and technology management. College's commitment to its program for two years, which earned him widespread recognition, and won every year, much higher than the order and national, are still stronger than ever.
Today, the State Planning Commission and eight learning sites throughout Pinellas County and recently became the first college in the state of Florida to provide degrees for four years in dental health. This program provides its increase for a period of two years, which has been in operation since 1963. The Public Prosecutor's degree for four years in the IT field of veterinary medicine, public security and orthotic and prosthetic management in 2005.
